ARTIST STATEMENT
This series of monotype studies explores the relationship between digital structure and organic form through a hybrid printmaking process. The works draw from both circuit-board–like geometries and flowing, string-based patterns, creating a visual tension between rigid systems and more intuitive, bodily marks.
The process begins digitally, where patterns are designed and then cut using a Cricut. These cut forms are applied directly onto metal plates and combined with hand-worked elements before printing. Through monotype printing, each piece remains singular, shaped by both intentional design and material unpredictability.
After the series was completed, one of the monotypes was acquired by a friend and collaborator for use as the album cover for his EP, allowing the work to extend beyond the studio and into a collaborative, musical context.
